Sending a Message to an Individual: Page, Email, Message, or Call

A message can be sent to a person from the Directory Search screen. The message icons next to a person’s or function’s name determine the type of message that the individual can receive. The following options are available:

Send a page. This icon displays only if the individual is assigned a pager and is able to receive a page. The page icon toggles with the message icon.

Send an email. This icon displays only if the individual is assigned an email address.

Send a message. This icon displays only if the individual is not assigned a pager, or if the individual is not able to be paged. The message is stored with an operator, and can be retrieved by the person or function representative to whom the message was sent. The message icon toggles with the page icon.

For more information about retrieving messages, please refer to Viewing Active and Archived Messages and Archiving Messages (Inbox Tab).

Place a call. This icon displays only if your organization has purchased and installed the Call Assistant application. Using this icon, the user can place a call to the individual simply by clicking on the icon. The call is automatically made from the user’s phone to the phone number in the directory record without manually dialing the telephone.

For more information about using the Call Assistant application, please refer to Using the Call Assistant Application.
