Searching for a Directory Record

Searching for a Person Using an External URL

Your Smart Web system may be configured to allow you to search for a specific person using an external URL. When the URL is used, the Directory Search screen displays, showing information only for the person whose name was included in the URL. Note that you are not allowed to perform another search for a different person from this screen.

NOTE: Please ask your system administrator whether your system is configured to use this feature.

The user’s name is appended to the end of the URL, as shown below:

http://HOSTNAME/smartweb/pages/directory/PersonSearchResults.jsf?firstname=FIRST&lastname=LAST

When you enter the URL, the Smart Web Directory Search screen is launched and information for the user is displayed.

Search Results and the DPE (Device Preference Engine)

If your system is using the DPE (Device Preference Engine) to manage your device preferences, the Type list box in the search result is disabled if the specified user that has a DPE profile. When a page is sent to the user, the device preferences specified in the user’s DPE profile determine the device to which a message is sent.
