Adding an Exception

A new exception can be added in the Profile tab. An exception of one of three types can be added: coverage, referral, or page block.

      COVERAGE: A COVERAGE exception allows a person to assign his or her responsibilities to another person for a specified period of time. When the original person is paged, the page is sent to the covering person instead.

      REFERRAL: A REFERRAL exception allows a person to forward their calls to another phone number. Pages are not accepted. The operator can either transfer the caller to a specified phone number, or store the message for retrieval at a later time.

      PAGE BLOCK: A PAGE BLOCK exception allows a person to block pages for a period of time. During the period specified, pages sent to the pager that is assigned to the person are blocked. Messages are saved for retrieval at a later time.

Only one exception can be scheduled for a person during a specified period of time. For instance, if a REFERRAL exception is scheduled for March 3rd from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, another exception cannot be scheduled for this individual during this time period.
