Reviewing a Personal Profile

Updating an Exception (Profile Tab)

An exception can be assigned to an individual when the individual is not available to accept messages. When a message can’t be accepted, you can specify how the message should be handled.

NOTE: This feature is configurable and the Exceptions section may not be available on your system.

Three options are available:

COVERAGE: A COVERAGE exception allows an individual (person or function) to assign their responsibilities to another individual for a specified period of time. When the original individual is paged, the page is sent to the covering individual instead.

REFERRAL: A REFERRAL exception allows an individual to forward their calls to another phone number. Pages are not accepted. The operator can either transfer the caller to a specified phone number, or store the message for retrieval at a later time.

PAGE BLOCK: A PAGE BLOCK exception allows an individual to block pages for a period of time. During the period specified, pages sent to the pager that is assigned to the individual are blocked. Messages are saved for retrieval at a later time.

Only one exception assignment can be scheduled for an individual at a time. For instance, if a REFERRAL exception is scheduled for March 3rd from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, another exception cannot be scheduled for this individual during this time period.

In order for an individual to be assigned an exception, the following requirements must be met:

The individual must have an operable pager assigned to them.

The individual must have a pageable status.

Any current exception can be updated and exceptions added and deleted in the Profile tab in the Personal Profile screen.

NOTE: If you are logged in as an on-call group, you cannot assign an exception to the on-call group in the Profile screen. Exceptions cannot be assigned to an on-call group.
