Placing a Call Using Call Assistant

Placing a call using Call Assistant enables you to place a phone call to the selected extension with the click of one button.

1.  Access Smart Web from an Internet Explorer browser window.

2.  Choose the Directory Search option, and search for the person to whom you want to place a call. For more information on using the Directory Search screen, please refer to Searching for a Directory Record.

3.  Click on a phone number listed in the Phone # [Type] column. The Call Assistant screen displays. The extension to be dialed displays in the Number To Dial field. The default extension for this computer displays in the From Extension field.

NOTE: Depending on the phone number selected in the Phone # [Type] column, either an entire phone number or just an extension displays. The format for number is determined by the entries in the phone number translation forms in Smart Center. Please refer to the Smart Center Reference Guide for more information about these forms.

4.  The extension in the Number To Dial field can be changed if you want to call a different extension. The extension in the From Extension field cannot be changed.

5.  Click the Dial button to place the call.

If an error occurs and the call cannot be placed, an error message displays.

Click the OK button to return to the main Call Assistant screen. You can re-dial the same extension, or enter a new extension.

Click the Close button to close the Call Assistant screen.
